Talented people come forth in large numbers from the East China Sea. The "Yongjiang Forum 2024" of the EIT kicked off successfully on August 31. More than 100 outstanding scholars from well-known universities and research institutions at home and abroad were invited to the forum to gather on the shores of Tongxin Lake. Centered around hot academic topics, they jointly explored frontier scientific and technological results and shared ideas on scientific and technological innovation and development in the new era.

Chen Shiyi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of EIT, delivered a speech. He first welcomed the young scholars from all over the world who gathered together on the shores of Yongjiang River and Tongxin Lake. EIT is a small-yet-excellent and internationalized new type of research university with a solid foundation. It was established thanks to the efforts of non-governmental organizations, key support at the state level, and joint support at the provincial and municipal level. The university boasts a unique edge in pooling together high-level teachers at home and abroad, promoting basic research to achieve high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, independently cultivating top innovative talents, and deepening the reform of school-running systems and mechanisms. With its first-class teaching and research capabilities, EIT will contribute to Ningbo's development into a modern international metropolis along the coast. It is sincerely hoped that all people with dreams can embrace growth here, expressed Chen.

Zhang Dongxiao, member of the United States National Academy of Engineering and Executive Vice President and Academic Dean of EIT, introduced EIT's school-running system and progress in aspects of discipline arrangement, talent training, faculty team, and scientific research among others. EIT will fully tap into the role of talents as the first resource to realize development driven by talent innovation.
Vice President He Yiwu introduced the progress of the permanent campus construction. EIT is committed to integrating the school spirit into the campus environment to foster a unique campus culture and embody strong humanistic care. It will leverage an innovative classroom space and learning environment to build an educational ecosystem that encourages exploration, thinking, and cooperation. The permanent campus started construction on December 29, 2022, coinciding with the launch of the Yongjiang Science and Technology Innovation Zone. Today, a "century-old classic" campus is rising up on the north bank of the Yongjiang River.
EIT aims to create a vibrant innovation ecosystem to facilitate exploration and breakthroughs in frontier science and technology. Zeng Wenjun, foreign Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), Vice President of EIT, and executive dean of the Ningbo Digital Twin (EIT) Institute, introduced the school's scientific research platform and the Ningbo Digital Twin (EIT) Institute. He explained the school's practices and measures in optimizing the allocation of scientific and technological resources, making available and sharing scientific and technological resources, and building a regional innovation system.
Wu Fabai, Associate Professor of the School of Science of EIT, as a scholar standing out in the EIT "Yongjiang Forum" last year, talked about his work and life in EIT during the young talent representative introduction step. He mentioned that EIT is a small-yet-excellent and internationalized new type of research university with a solid foundation. The school has broken down the barriers between departments such that teachers from different disciplines can exchange ideas with each other, facilitating cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary collaboration for research.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice President Zheng Chunmiao. The scholars delivered the latest academic reports in seven sub-venues of the Science, Engineering, and Information departments of EIT on the afternoon of August 31 and on September 1.
