Background Information:
Jian Peng is currently an Assistant Professor at the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo. He received his Ph.D. in Material Science from the University of Wollongong, Australia, in 2022 and continued there as an Associate Research Fellow. In 2023, he joined the University of Western Ontario, Canada, for postdoctoral research, having been awarded the prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship. Jian's main research focus is on the design and engineering applications of sodium-ion battery electrodes.
He has published 88 peer-reviewed journal articles, with over 6,000 citations and an h-index of 44 (Google Scholar). Among these, he has published 31 papers as the first or corresponding author, including works in Adv Mater. (1), Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (5), Energy Environ. Sci. (1), Adv. Energy Mater. (5), Matter (2), Nano Lett. (1) over the past five years. 16 of his publications are Highly Cited Papers, and 4 are Hot Papers. He also serves as a young editorial board member for Carbon Energy, Nano Research Energy, and Battery Energy. Furthermore, he is the recipient of the 2021 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad, Extraordinary Potential Prize, and Postgraduate Research Award 2021/2022 of the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering. He was granted the ICDD 2021 Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship Award, as one of the 6 global recipients all over the world. He is selected as the 2024 World’s Top 2% Scientists released by Stanford University and Elsevier.

His primary research focuses on key materials and advanced characterization techniques for all-solid-state sodium batteries, covering the following areas:
1. Electrode and electrolyte materials sodium-ion battery.
2. Atomic scale fabrication and modification of interfaces.
3. Investigation on multiple scale (“Materials-Interfaces-Devices”) sodium-ion storage mechanism.
4. Operando techniques for sodium-ion batteries.
5. Pouch cell prototyping and industrial applications.
