Professor Wenjun Zeng is Vice President of the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo, an International Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and an IEEE Fellow. He was a Sr. Principal Research Manager and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Microsoft Research Asia. He has served as Director of the Joint Lab for Intelligent Information Processing between Xi'an Jiaotong University and Microsoft Research Asia, and as a PhD advisor at the University of Missouri, University of Science and Technology of China, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, among others. At Microsoft Research Asia, he led research and development in video analysis and understanding, providing core technologies for Microsoft Cognitive Services, Azure Media Analytics Services, Office, Dynamics, and Windows Machine Learning.
Professor Wenjun Zeng received the B.E. degree from Tsinghua University in 1990, the M.S. degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1993, and the Ph.D. degree from Princeton University in 1997. He has worked at Panasonic Information Technology Laboratory, the Bell Labs, the Sharp Labs of America, PacketVideo Corporation. From 2003 to 2016, he was a tenured Associate Professor and later Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Missouri. He joined Microsoft Research Asia in 2014, where he led research groups in intelligent multimedia and media computing. He has contributed significantly to the development of international standards including ISO MPEG, JPEG2000, and the Open Mobile Alliance. He has published over 250 journal and conference papers and has over 17,000 citations (Google Scholar). He was a recipient of several best paper awards He is the author of two books on multimedia security and social multimedia. His current research focuses on artificial intelligence, computer vision, multimedia analysis, communication, and security. In 2020, he was listed among career-long impact list of “World’s Top 2% Scientists” ranking by Stanford University.
Professor Wenjun Zeng is on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Computer Vision. He was an Associate Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Multimedia Magazine and an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, and IEEE Transactions on Multimedia. He was on the Steering Committee of Proceedings of IEEE、IEEE Communications Magazine、IEEE TCSVT, IEEE Tran. on Multimedia, ACM TOMCCAP. He has served as the General Chair or the TPC Chair of several IEEE conferences (e.g., ICME 2018、ICIP 2017、CHINASIP 2015、WIFS 2013、ICME 2009、CCNC 2007). He has also served as the Steering Committee of Trans. Mobile Computing (2014-2016) and Tran. on Multimedia (2009-2012), as well as the Steering Committee Chair of IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) in 2010 and 2011.
