PART 1. Program Overview
The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) aims to attract and support outstanding young scholars who have achieved significant achievements in natural sciences and engineering — including non-ethnic Chinese foreign nationals. The program encourages these talents to return or come to China for full-time work, where they are expected to independently choose their research direction and conduct innovative research. The program aims to promote the rapid development of young scientific and technological talents and cultivate a group of outstanding academic talents who are expected to enter the forefront of world science and technology, thereby contributing to building China into a science and technology giant.
To further strengthen the talent funding mechanism and enhance its role in attracting and cultivating outstanding young talents, the National Natural Science Foundation of China has launched an additional call for the 2025 Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas).
